A year of me

The year

I lived a long cherished dream
and
made the journey of a lifetime
traveled all the way to Canada
Thanks to a very generous brother
with a glorious week in Lake District
Thanks to a very hospitable sis and bil
Siblings and parents in tow
I revisited my childhood
and realised that it was as perfect
as I remembered it to be

The year I discovered
that I could write
Not just what i like
but what editors like too
That I don’t have to be famous
to have a column
in the Tribune
Or be confined to the open pages
of the Hindu
That for great things to happen
I need to dream big

I realised
That time and space
is a state of mind
That time need not stretch
infinitely before me
and space can be filled
with
Projects and deadlines
That there will be people
who appreciate me
and people who don’t
And what others think of me
is none of my business

As my real world shrinks
my virtual world expands
Thank God
for that
and for my ability to appreciate
a good joke or a funny situation
and laugh no matter what
through my fears
through my tears
